The 44 yrs old postcard by Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan
A valued collector's item for the fans of Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri and Aishwarya Rai
While going through my old papers, of school days in Birla Vidya Mandir, Nainital, I found a hand written postcard of Late Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan. The postcard was written in 1967, about 44 years ago, to the Editor of our School magazine. I have preserved it since then as a valued collector's item.
Harivansh Rai "Bachchan" Shrivastav (27 November 1907 – 18 January 2003) was a noted Hindi poet of Chhayavaad literary movement (romantic upsurge) of early 20th century Hindi literature. He is best known for his early work "Madhushala" (a bar selling alcoholic drinks). He is also the father of Bollywood megastar, Amitabh Bachchan and grandfather of Abhishek Bachchan.
Harivanshrai was nominated to the Indian Rajya Sabha in 1966 and received the Sahitya Akademi award three years later. In 1976 he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan for his immense contribution to Hindi literature. He was also honoured with the Saraswati Samman, the Sovietland Nehru Award and the Lotus Award of the Afro-Asian writers’ conference, for his unique contribution to the world of letters. But if ever asked to introduce himself, he had a simple introduction: Mitti ka tan, masti ka man, kshan-bhar jivan — mera parichay. (A body of clay, a mind full of play, a moment’s life - that is me.).
It's a valued collector's item for the fans of Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri and Aishwarya Rai. The postcard is now available for sale.
Minimum reserved price for this postcard is Rs. One Lac. (INR 1,00,000)
