Big B enjoyed Indian theme at book launch

Big B enjoyed Indian theme at book launch

Designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, known for rediscovering and reviving ancient Indian arts such as chikan and zardosi, launched their book " India Fantastique", and Amitabh Bachchan says he was overwhelmed by the "sea of Indian celebration".

"Above all the magnificence, the one factor that has made it most attractive has been the Indianness in every breath that one took. From the 'mogras' to the dresses of the models, right down to the ladies and gents in the guest list, it has been a sea of Indian celebration. And for this, I am most proud," the 69-year old said.

Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla launched the book Saturday at industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence. It marks their silver jubliee in the fashion world.

Giving an insight into the book, Big B, who is on their clientele list, wrote on his blog srbachchan.tumblr: "The colour, the finesse of their designs, the intricacy of their workmanship, the quality of the material and its appropriate positioning, all have been put together over the years in matchless dimensions inside this exquisite book.

"'India Fantastique' may be the reflection of a materialistic form, but even there the material of the fabric is strong, lasting and most Indian."

Mukesh and his wife Neeta Ambani hosted the event. Big B says it was a memorable evening.

EID MUBARAK !! HAPPINESS AND PEACE ALWAYS

DAY 1583

Jalsa , Mumbai               Aug 18/19,  2012             Sat/ Sun  2 : 59 AM

EID MUBARAK !! EID MUBARAK !! EID MUBARAK !! HAPPINESS AND PEACE ALWAYS !!

Jaishree Sharad … happy birthday and wishes for your continued success in your unique field. May this year and the many years to come bring prosperity and greater glory … love from all of us !!

Beauty elegance and creative finesse have an unbounded capacity to elate ones senses to the ultimate peaks. Surrounded by an excellent mixture of some of the brightest brains and those of immense social standing, housed in an environment of the most formidable taste, and you can feel the lift of your sagging jowls, wishing away some serious years off your age menu !
The book launch of ‘India Fantastique’, a unique document of some of the most exciting and astonishingly beautiful creative works down the years, of Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, two of the most distinguished designers of our time, has been an evening one is not likely to forget in a long time. The color, the finesse of their designs, the intricacy of their workmanship, the quality of the material and its appropriate positioning, all have been put together over the years in matchless dimensions inside this exquisite book. And the presentation of it choreographed in much the same fashion as their works, has been today for me, a most memorable evening. Ensconced within the portals of the magnificence of ‘Antilla’, Mukesh Ambani’s palatial residence, decorated and managed with utmost efficiency to the smallest detail, has not just added to the evening, but set fresh pinacles of lavish hosting !

But above all the magnificence, the one factor that has made it most attractive to me tonight has been the Indianess in every breath that one took. From the ‘mogras’ to the dresses of the models, right down to the ladies and gents in the guest list, it has been a sea of Indian celebration. And for this I am most proud.
As a free country there is much that has been achieved, there is much that still needs to be achieved. There has been cynicism and negative posturing by many that look upon this country as one that never seems to recover or advance to the levels that other nations expect. For me, those that send out measures of expectation, are the ones that lack that ingredient, largely in themselves. It is not we that need help, they do ! Put yourself in our situations, live with us and our state, realize reality, ponder and then speak up, for I am certain that there shall be huge efforts that shall need to be made to even come out with a whimper !
Diversity has been our historical inheritance. No amount of effort from within or without shall ever succeed in trying to alter it. We live and prosper because of it. It is our hidden asset, our example for the rest of the world. I have worked in every corner of this great country, from North to South, from East to West and travelled among common trails, met spoken and observed my countrymen. No where have I ever encountered disrespect, disdain or hostility towards either individual or collective polity. Our strengths lie in this belief, and they are not as frivolous as many others may seem it to be.

Our combined beliefs and practices have ousted many an oppressor and we shall be more than prepared to oust them even now. Do not attempt to touch the fabric of our appearance because you find it fragile. The strength of its making is far superior than any other. Our materials are strong and lasting, and even if perchance you were to tear a slice from it, it shall be a momentary exercise in futility, for our fabric does have the ability to wrap itself around him that separates it from its mother body and throttle it into submission !!
‘India Fantastique’ may be the reflection of a materialistic form, but even there the material of the fabric is strong, lasting and most Indian ! Jai Hind !

Good night … or whatever time in the morning it is … love

The latter half of the evening has been spent in rehearsing for the book launch

DAY 1582

Jalsa , Mumbai             Aug 17/18,  2012               Fri/Sat  1 : 50 AM

The joys and pleasures of life are intermingled with moments which are filled with remorse and displeasure. You may be loved by the entire universe but there shall always be some that shall doubt that existence. It is that phenomena of which we have talked often, the ‘nazar’ the ‘kala tika’, to ward off the evil ..
I often wonder then, whether it is advisable to exhibit that happiness, for fear of the displeasure it often brings and I feel I have reached that conclusive argument that living in fear is a bigger obstacle, detrimental to our being and to the being of the others that come along with you, than existing in a life that propels one to the pleasures and joys of our lives …
It is often easy to write about it, for in writing there is a sense of being aloof to the meaning of the expressions that you dwell in ; but that would not be a bearing that is fare. And fare play is a greater recommendation than any other. So be in mind body and spirit of truth and fare ness, for nothing touches one more than what this means to us all. There is growing confidence in all that you experience and work with, a freedom that uplifts all else. An uplifted freedom harbors a will to excel at all times. To wipe out all the other isms completely out of our system. This is an ideal situation, a situation which each one of us endeavors the utmost to be in. It survives in some. In others it perishes. When it perishes, it opens its doors to further evil thinking and wrong, and that is what we call the destruction of our self and our body. We are then our own destroyer’s, we build walls and barriers when there really is no need to do so. Walls ? Barriers ? Against what ? No one individual has the power or the capacity to ever penetrate these boundaries that we build with our own sense of responsibility. It is we that shall decide, whether we should be receptive to joy or not - not the other. So when it is joy and happiness that is the desired module, why would we ever want to not possess it, rather than the other.
It takes time and perhaps a few experiences to be able to accept the circumstances and realize, that the person that is responsible, is we ourselves. So why make our own task so difficult. No, never ever entertain that thought which would make us defend our own faults. We know best, and we shall best repair it, or not. It is a challenge whether to live and boil in our own stew, or conduct the flames that inflame us in such manner that only gives us peace and well being !!
The rehearsals for KBC get along well. I say this because I get to be the recipient of many little warm and gentle gifts from those that come even if it is a mock game. Incredible. Like this morning I became the owner of a three wheeler bike, called Trikke, I think the name is right, presented so generously by one of the contestants out of love and wellness. A battery operated vehicle with limited speed for those that find walking troublesome. Why he thought of me is not known. Perhaps he thought I was in a state where my mobility was limited. I am grateful to him and his company that manufactures it. I rode it a bit around the place of rehearsal. It was grand. But I fear it shall be used more often by Agastya, who having just landed in Mumbai, seemed to be eyeing it with expected permission to mount it.

The latter half of the evening has been spent in rehearsing for the book launch of Abu-Sandeep’s 25 years of art and design titled ‘India Fantastique’. An incredible collection of the duo designers work of intricate and most elegant clothing that has made us all look most regal and elegant ! The evening tomorrow shall be decorated with stunning models that have through the years been with them and their designing, and rehearsing with all this tall and most appealing beauty about you has left me a little breathless, I must say. Tomorrow when they shall all be in their finest, it is going to be an even more daunting task. But for those descriptions one shall have to wait till the next day … that is provided I survive the presence of so much creativity about me !
Till the morrow then … good night … and oh yes, I feature in the book too, in a most … naaah ! shall leave that for you to fill in when you see it .. there will be a release in London of it and perhaps one in New York … perhaps …
My love,
Amitabh Bachchan
