Amitabh Bachchan to play Sanjay Dutt's father in biopic?

Amitabh Bachchan to play Sanjay Dutt's father in biopic?

After reports of Ranbir Kapoor playing the role of Sanjay Dutt in his biopic went viral, the makers are inching closer to the final casting decisions of the film. According to a report in DNA After Hours, director Raj Kumar Hirani and Sanjay Dutt are keen on having Amitabh Bachchan essay the role of his father Sunil Dutt.

A source close to the Dutts was quoted saying, “He (Sanjay) considers Abhishek his younger brother and Bachchan Saab as a father figure. When the casting of Sanju’s father was being considered, Big B was the unanimous decision.”

Another friend of Sanjay’s said that Hirani felt no other actor could portray the late actor better than Amitabh Bachchan

If reports are to be believed, this will be Raju Hirani’s first time working with BigB. If all goes well, Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bahchcan would make an interesting cast for this highly anticipated film.

Amitabh Bachchan: Will never go back to politics

Amitabh Bachchan: Will never go back to politics

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says entering politics was a mistake, and he will never again repeat the mistake.

The 72-year-old, who contested the Lok Sabha election from Allahabad in 1984 and won, resigned after three years as an MP.

"Venturing into politics was a mistake. I entered the field in the flow of emotions. But then I realised that emotions are very different from reality in the political arena. So I gave up," the actor said at a session of Agenda Aaj Tak here on Saturday.

"I have never thought of going back to politics since then," he added.

The actor was nostalgic while reciting his late father Harivanshrai Bachchan's poem "Madhushala" at the event.

Amitabh noted that his father was teetotaller but his poem was on alcohol and drunkards.

"The poem was written in 1933 and published in 1935. It is amazing that the poem still manages to attract people. My father never drank, but the poem is all about alcohol. It was a hot topic of discussion then," said Amitabh.

"His poems depicted revolutionary thoughts even at that time."

On the professional front, the actor is busy shooting for Bejoy Nambiar's "Wazir". The film also features Farhan Akhtar.

Sonam Kapoor with Fawd Khan promote Khoobsurat’ on KBC and amir khan meet again with him

The company of stars on set … the lovely Sonam Kapoor along with the handsome Fawd Khan from Pakistan, who promote their film ‘Khoobsurat’ on KBC ..

Aamir Khan and the chance meet again with him in the Atrium of YRF … this atrium seems destined for meetings with important people ..

But in the true sense of the word the real heroes are the ones that appear on KBC with their list of difficulties and issues .. and to see them playing the game for a cause which can resolve their most deepest problematic legacies in their individual homes .. is the most heartening to behold ..

Each day on set of KBC is a test of  not just our knowledge, but indeed the heart beats of the nation ..

In the hallowed precincts of this unusual but rather intriguing game is hidden the substance which brings with it the essence of better times, a resolve resolved, a home getting back to being a home … the fulfilment of dreams and desires, mostly not for them selves, but for those that struggle among them ..

It is an honor and a most humbling experience to be among those that have never perhaps had the opportunities that we get within a whisshhh … to be with those that have suffered the pain of poverty and abuse and limited means .. to be with those that bring such reverence ever - their little hand made gifts of presentation and its reciprocation ..

We are a nation of such deep magnitude and feeling that it shall be impossible to fathom our real selves ..

We ourselves would find it difficult to express what it means to us when we confront these issues …

God has been kind …. very kind …

Big B will apparently do the voiceovers for Dhanush in Shamitabh

Amitabh Bachchan to lend his voice to Dhanush

Big B will apparently do the voiceovers for Dhanush as he plays a deaf and dumb character in 'Shamitabh

Dhanush apparently plays a deaf and mute junior artiste in R Balki’s film, Shamitabh, which has the Ranjhanaa actor and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. It is now being said that Bachchan will lend his voice to Dhanush in the film.

If a source close to the film is to be believed, Dhanush and Amitabh recently shot for the film in Mumbai. “Dhanush plays a deaf and mute junior artist in the film and Amitabh Bachchan will do the voiceover for Dhanush’s character. Among the scenes that were recently shot was one where Dhanush, after a long struggle, gets his due. In this sequence, he has won an award and is shown walking the red carpet as well,” says the source.

The film, which went on the floors in February, has been shot in locations like Mumbai and Goa. It may be pointed out that Shamitabh will mark the Bollywood debut of Akshara Haasan, legendary actor Kamal Haasan’s daughter. The film is Dhanush’s second Hindi project, after the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Ranjhanaa. It remains to be seen whether the actor will be able to impress audiences once again with his role in Shamitabh. Buzz also has it that he will be doing a cameo in the sequel to the Hindi film, Tanu Weds Manu.

Amitabh Bachchan's 'Yudh' Character is 'Dull' Says Juhi Chawla

Bollywood actress JuhiChawla found megastarAmitabhBachchan's character dull in his debut fiction show 'Yudh'.

The actress, who has been roped in as the brand ambassador for Sony Entertainment's new general entertainment channel 'Sony Pal', said she did not like Big B's character in the show.

"I saw one episode of 'Yudh' and during the show, appeared advertisements of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. And he looked so dapper in that. I think I will watch KBC instead of the serial. I found his character dull and may be I don't want to see him in that avatar," Juhi said in an interview here.

Bachchan's 'Yudh', was touted as one of the biggest shows on the small screen, but it evoked a lukewarm response from the audiences.

The 46-year-old actress, on her part, is open to the idea of working for television, if something exciting comes across.

"It (show) has to be something outstanding and not just any story. I would like to do a show where I can make people laugh and cry, something that adds value to one's life," she added.

The 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' actress said she also does not mind judging reality shows.

"I don't mind... let's see what comes up. I had done one season of 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' and enjoyed it," she added.

On her latest sting with 'Sony Pal', she said the channel aims at adding value to viewers' lives besides entertaining them.

"The channel aims to entertain and uplift one's thoughts.

I am happy that I am the brand ambassador and I value it. I told them to have a show with me. But as of now there is no show. May be in the near future, the channel might do a show with me," she added.

While Juhi detests the typical 'saas-bahu' serials, shows like 'Mahadev', 'Jodha Akbar' and comedy serials impress her.

"I wonder how a petty issue is dragged for episodes. I don't see all serials but some of them are really good. I like 'Mahadev', 'Jodha Akbar' and I thought they are very well written and produced," she said.

Fiery young lady inspires Amitabh Bachchan on KBC 8

Fiery young lady inspires Amitabh Bachchan on KBC

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been an inspiration for many but this time, the megastar felt “really inspired” by a true story of a “fiery young lady” who came to shoot with actress Priyanka Chopra for the forthcoming season of reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC).

The 71-year-old shot a "special programme" called ‘Housalebaaz’ with the two ladies. He took to his blog to make a special mention of the “determination and strength” of Usha Vishwakarma from Lucknow who fought back abuse and wretched treatment from the opposite sex.

“Inspired really by the true story of the fiery young lady that came on with Priyanka Chopra to KBC in our special programme called ‘Housalebaaz’ ...one with determination and strength, displayed in circumstances that have troubled and abused the young female gender in society … ,” he posted on his blog srbachchan.tumblr.com.

“Usha Vishwakarma from Lucknow, UP fought back abuse and formed a RED BRIGADE of young girls, trained them in the art of self defence and wanted to form an Academy by the earnings at KBC to teach and arm those oppressed and suppressed women in the country to give it back to the invader...,” he further added.

BigB also applauded Priyanka`s film ‘Mary Kom’, a biopic on the five-time World Champion boxer.

“And Priyanka does just that in her film ‘Mary Kom’ the bio made on the life of this fearless athlete from the North East, Manipur, who won the World Championship Women’s Boxing event 5 times and won a medal for the country at the last Olympics,” he posted.

Co-produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, "Mary Kom" shows M.C. Mary Kom`s journey from an athlete to a boxer, opposition faced by her father to take up the sport as a profession, training with men, her fearless nature, marriage and so-called end of her boxing career.

Directed by Omung Kumar, it is slated for a Sep 5 release.

Mr. Bachchan just couldn't stop during action sequences Puri Jagannadh

Mr. Bachchan just couldn't stop during action sequences" - Puri Jagannadh

My father stood in a queue to watch Sholay. Puri Jagannadh too has done it, and I'm sure many of you out there too must have at some given point in your life. But such was the allure of Amitabh Bachchan back then. Today, many seem that he has become placid in his portrayals on screen but come July 1, the angry young man gives way to the angry old man in Puri Jagannadh's Bbuddah...Hoga Terra Baap. The South Indian director has just arrived in Bollywood and look what he has done? He has presented Amitabh Bachchan as never before: colourful, cajoling and kicking. The question is - Will Puri take it one notch higher? To find out more on the origin of Bbuddah and the loss of the angry young man, UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent talks to the director who has given his heart and soul to bring the hero of heroes, Amitabh Bachchan on celluloid all over again. Matinee time is just around the corner and so are the long queues. And believe you me, advance booking starts NOW!

"I stopped watching Mr. Bachchan's films till I came across RGV's Sarkar and the rest is history"
I've been a big fan of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan since childhood and I used to watch his movies like Zanjeer, Deewar, Sholay and Agneepath. He is dynamic and a superstar in front of me. Then he was never seen in the angry young man look for decades. So I stopped watching his films also. For me, Amitabh Bachchan was the epitome of angry. After twenty five years, I watched Sarkar and I called RGV. I have been an assistant director for Ram Gopal Varma. I called and I told him that I wanted to cast Mr. Bachchan in a role for the film that I had written. RGV then took me to Mr. Bachchan and he agreed to do the film.

"I never dreamt that I would work with Mr. Bachchan"
I never dreamt that I would work with Mr. Bachchan in my life because I was just a fan of his. So seeing Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap come to life is a surprise but it's still a film that I have directed and it's my work.

Puri Jagannadh "Mr. Bachchan told me to mellow down the action sequences but he lied. He just couldn't stop once on set"
I did design the action sequences that could be handled by Mr. Bachchan but he told me to mellow down in the action sequences. He was honest to tell me that he won't be able to do too many action sequences. But he lied (laughs). He is so energetic that he just couldn't stop once in the character.

"There will be a long queue to watch him in Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap"
Now-a-days, the youth is watching Amitabh Bachchan on the big screen anyway. But back then, I used to stand in a queue to watch him. I want today's youth to do just that. There will be a long queue to watch him in Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap, that's what I wish. It's a different feeling altogether. Yes, the Rajinikanth fascination is hitting Bollywood big time.

"When RGV told Mr. Bachchan the name of the film is Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap, he laughed out loud"
When RGV told Mr. Bachchan the name of the film is Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap, he laughed out loud. It was the most unexpected title ever. But in today's time the youth really gets their first flavour of the film from its title. I think this is the most risky title that many of our actors or directors or producers would never go with.

"Mr. Bachchan wants to go beyond his characters sometimes"
Mr. Bachchan got so many colourful goggles that I asked myself 'Why' (laughs). But deep down he has this fire in him. He took me home and showed me some of the stuff he brought. That's passion for cinema. That's the level of commitment he brings. He even got some tiger print pants that I and you will never buy but when you have a role like this, Mr. Bachchan wants to go beyond and that's good.

Puri Jagannadh "Sonal Chauhan has played her role with zest"
I earlier wanted Kangna Ranaut for the role that is now being portrayed by Sonal Chauhan in Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap. I didn't get Kangna's dates and so went with Sonal after the auditions. She is very good in the film. She has played her role with zest.

"Bbuddah started with a dialogue and then the story"
When I thought of the title Bbuddah, I didn't know what kind of a story I was going to write. But I wrote one dialogue before writing the story, "Agar mein marunga, toh goli se marunga, BP ya sugar se nahi." (If I die I will die from a bullet and not from BP or Sugar). That triggered off the rest of the film. I designed the protagonist on those lines. The movie will certainly have a repeat audience, I can guarantee.

"I am getting offers to direct in Hindi now"
I am getting offers to direct in Hindi now after the first promo and the look is out. I have been working in Hyderabad since a decade but now I want to make some more Hindi films because I am also starting to live in Mumbai (laughs). "Mr. Bachchan makes sure that everything is proper from pre to post"
Mr. Bachchan saw the whole film and he told me to edit some scenes only to better the film. Yes, he does talk to you and gives you his personal input but more than that, he makes sure that everything is done correctly in the scene, be it lighting, direction, co-actors and even editing.

"To have the premiere of Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap in London will be amazing"
I told Mr. Bachchan to have the premiere of the film in London. That'll be quite something. Let's see whether we are successful in doing that or not.
