The remote sources of help Waseem Raja in KBC BigB

Jalsa, Mumbai               Oct 18/19,  2014               Sat/Sun  12:48 am

From the darkness of the night and the terror of uncertain life … from the devastation in the surround .. from the shrieks and cries of help … from the imbedded streets and buildings and vehicles under rapids of food water .. from lives lost, to lives of destruction … from the fear of survival, to the succour of brave hearts .. from humanity to humans .. from beyond the bindings of caste and creed and religious and social bias … from the meagre to the remote sources of help …

Rose many a brave … un concerned and un cared for in their own, but determined to bring those under threat of eventual perishment, to safety and secure locations .. providing them basics of food and water and a space to lay down .. one man, but many like him .. saved 5000 to 6000 lives … they are the true heroes of our great nation ..

They left their own to save others whom they had never met or known .. they worked for days without food or rest .. without any care for self .. just an instinct  within to serve those in need selflessly ..

We honoured one such on our KBC .. Waseem Raja … a young man with a young wife and two tiny children … travelled to the call of his friend some 5 kms away when he heard they were in trouble because of the devastating flood waters that were rising at rapid speed, inundating houses, buildings vehicles streets … everything that came nature’s way … searched for a boat somehow and clinging on to the overhead power wires pulled his little life support shikara to bring thousands of stranded families helpless and without hope from the roof tops of their homes …

Stories of bravery by the Sikh community and their Gurudwaras that opened up their gates for free ‘langars’ and the Masjid’s that became relief areas for those stranded to rest and be in safe regions .. of one particular Sardar, who removed his turban and binding it to those struggling against the waters, pulled them out of trouble .. of tearing his turban up to bandage a bleeding survivor .. the turban the most sacred apparel of the Sikh’s .. but put to use for the good of humanity ..

The Army the forces and their relief operations, bringing food and material from the air, patrolling the streets in rubber dingy’s to save lives, flying them to secure regions, opening relief camps with medical facilities ..

I do not know where they get the strength from in such conditions … the human is a rare species … it is never aware of its capacity .. its potential .. its power ..

When used and utilised for the right cause can truly ‘move mountains’ ..

We stand in silence for those that lost their loved ones .. and silently too salute those that saved the lost ..

Big B lauds first 7 crore winners of ‘KBC’

Mumbai, Sept 21: Calling their win ‘exemplary’, Amitabh Bachchan praised brothers, Achin and Sarthak Narula, who became the first ever contestants to win the highest prize of Rs 7 crore in ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, hosted by the Bollywood megastar.

The duo, who hail from Delhi, emerged victorious after answering all the 14 questions correctly with the help of four lifelines.

“There was a mission in the manner in which they approached the game. Right from the very start, they went about it in a manner that was simply exemplary. They used up all their lifelines, but they had the answer even before they asked for help,” the 71-year-old actor posted on his blog.

Bachchan, who has been hosting the gaming reality show for 14 years, said it was sheer joy to see the two brothers come out victorious.

“What a joy to see a 28-year-old and his younger brother of 23, playing to gather some money to be able to put it into the cause of providing the fees required for the treatment of their mother who suffers from ovarian cancer.

“Achin and Sarthak Narula, you deserve not just the highest reward of the show but indeed all the wishes for propagating this important message that if an ailment is brought to the notice of the medics in correct time, the possibility of a cure and its success is possible,” Bachchan added.

Sonam Kapoor with Fawd Khan promote Khoobsurat’ on KBC and amir khan meet again with him

The company of stars on set … the lovely Sonam Kapoor along with the handsome Fawd Khan from Pakistan, who promote their film ‘Khoobsurat’ on KBC ..

Aamir Khan and the chance meet again with him in the Atrium of YRF … this atrium seems destined for meetings with important people ..

But in the true sense of the word the real heroes are the ones that appear on KBC with their list of difficulties and issues .. and to see them playing the game for a cause which can resolve their most deepest problematic legacies in their individual homes .. is the most heartening to behold ..

Each day on set of KBC is a test of  not just our knowledge, but indeed the heart beats of the nation ..

In the hallowed precincts of this unusual but rather intriguing game is hidden the substance which brings with it the essence of better times, a resolve resolved, a home getting back to being a home … the fulfilment of dreams and desires, mostly not for them selves, but for those that struggle among them ..

It is an honor and a most humbling experience to be among those that have never perhaps had the opportunities that we get within a whisshhh … to be with those that have suffered the pain of poverty and abuse and limited means .. to be with those that bring such reverence ever - their little hand made gifts of presentation and its reciprocation ..

We are a nation of such deep magnitude and feeling that it shall be impossible to fathom our real selves ..

We ourselves would find it difficult to express what it means to us when we confront these issues …

God has been kind …. very kind …

Amitabh Bachchan : After Deewar, My Mother Wept Like a Child

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, posted an emotional eulogy for his mother Teji Bachchan, on her birth anniversary today (August 12), on his blog.

The actor remembered the support and strength his mother gave him during his 'disastrous days in Bollywood'. He wrote, "My Mother sat by my side in those early disastrous years of my film profession, running her fingers through my hair and reassuring me that all would be well."

He said that though she never showed or expressed any emotion that would trouble her, in front of the family, "found the absolute moment to express it to me -- after the first trial she saw of Deewar."

"My Mother wept for hours like a child, for a child whom she felt had actually passed away in the film."

The actor, praising his mother said that she was the most of the most beautiful, compassionate, effervescent lady in his life. The 72-year-old actor also said that he seeks strength from his late mother.

"Each day I look at the face of the most beautiful, compassionate, effervescent lady in my life. I seek her blessings as she looks down upon me from the side of her husband my Father. I seek strength from her."

In his blog, Big B remembered the day when his father and celebrated poet Harivanshrai Bachchan died. "As I wheeled her next to her husband, she became silent. Not a word was spoken, not a nerve in her otherwise active body moved and after a while I took her back silently to her room upstairs. Throughout the mourning and the prayers and the chautha she remained dark glassed and silent. It was as though she herself had shaded herself from the reality -- true in many ways, for she never ever did speak or ask after him till she herself joined him."

Big B also talked about his mother's youthful days when she would "walk down the corridors of her college, where young students would await her arrival wondering which clothing she would fashion on the day and what the essence of her perfume."

Read full entry here:

The hour has passed. The early rings of the 12th of August bear within. They are precious and dear and all encompassing. They are what we are. They be what they be for us and me. They were so, we were.

12 th August - The birth of her that gave birth to me!!

Each day I look at the face of the most beautiful, compassionate, effervescent lady in my life. I seek her blessings as she looks down upon me from the side of her husband my Father. I seek strength from her, and wisdom from my Father. They stay together in the room I preserve, in the house that commands my first ever - and will, till the last of me - 'Prateeksha' -- swagat sab ke liye yahan par, nahin kissi ke liye prateeksha (welcome all to this abode, but not a wait for any) -- words that ring true in one of my Father's works, but he felt it right to name the house in its meaning.

Just below her, another family togetherness in picture -- my Grandfather, Sardar Khazan Singh Suri and my Grandmother, a Sodhi, the family that has traditionally been the prabandhak's of the Anandpur Sahib Gurudwara, one of the most revered in the Sikh divinity -- my Mother's Father and Mother.

My Mother Tej Kaur Suri, before marriage, was just 3 months old when her Mother passed away. She never did ever experience the joy and care and the most important company of a Mother. She never knew what a Mother was! Is that in some way indicative of how dear a Mother she herself became, when we were born? I often wonder, as does my Father in his autobiography.

I touch their faces through the enlarged miracles of photography, stand silently before the beginning of the day, and wish and pray that they extend their love and care to me and the family.

The Ramayan sung in tune, the Hanuman Chalisa rendered by me, and at times the Gurubaniplays constantly in that room where my Father breathed his last. And as I cross over the space in front of the pictures, I feel the presence of my Father's bed as he lay just there in his last moments, his hand in mine, warm and soft, just like the times when he would extend it early mornings to me as a child, for the walks we went together on. The monitors on his being went erratic, and then with a gentle jerk of his body, he ...

I went up to my Mother, asleep in her own realm of a dysfunctional mind due to her extreme condition, and spoke to her. I cannot remember or gather what I said. What and how does one tell a Mother that she has lost her husband and me my Father?

I put her with great difficulty on her wheel chair and carried her down to where my Father lay, unable to answer her repeated questioning of where she was being taken and why. And as I wheeled her next to her husband, she became silent. Not a word was spoken, not a nerve in her otherwise active body moved and after a while I took her back silently to her room upstairs. Throughout the mourning and the prayers and the chautha she remained dark glassed and silent. It was as though she herself had shaded herself from the reality -- true in many ways, for she never ever did speak or ask after him till she herself joined him.

My Mother, unknown to my Father till they accidentally met, My Mother, who had never heard of who my Father was. My Mother who left her all - her luxuries of her opulent home in Lahore and Rawalpindi and Lyalpur and Karachi, her English Governesses and a fleet of my Grandfather's Lancer's and Rolls Royce's, to marry my Father, an unknown of meagre means, in their very first meeting, within hours.

My Mother, who fought against caste and creed, tradition and old values, to come and live in an alien land in the heart of conservative Allahabad, with my Father.

My Mother, the lioness that would take on an entire gang of thugs who had dared to threaten her children when they were small.

My Mother, who sat by my side in those early disastrous years of my film profession, running her fingers through my hair and reassuring me that all would be well.

My Mother that never showed or expressed any emotion that would trouble her, in front of us, so we would not be disturbed, despite some horrid and ugly circumstances and who after years and years of this bearing, could not consume anymore pain and hurt, found the absolute moment to express it to me -- after the first trial she saw of Deewar.

My Mother, who wept for hours like a child, for a child whom she felt had actually passed away in the film.

My Mother, with the gentleness of her chiffon saris, and the perfumed walk down the corridors of her College, where young students would await her arrival wondering which clothing she would fashion on the day and what the essence of her perfume.

My Mother, who gave cheer and reason to smile, to all that came in her proximity.

My Mother, born on the 12 th of August, in the year which even she did not quite remember, except that she was perhaps 10 - 11 years younger than her husband ..

My Mother, like all Mother's -- the best in the entire universe.

Happy Birthday Ma

Amitabh Bachchan's 'Yudh' Character is 'Dull' Says Juhi Chawla

Bollywood actress JuhiChawla found megastarAmitabhBachchan's character dull in his debut fiction show 'Yudh'.

The actress, who has been roped in as the brand ambassador for Sony Entertainment's new general entertainment channel 'Sony Pal', said she did not like Big B's character in the show.

"I saw one episode of 'Yudh' and during the show, appeared advertisements of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. And he looked so dapper in that. I think I will watch KBC instead of the serial. I found his character dull and may be I don't want to see him in that avatar," Juhi said in an interview here.

Bachchan's 'Yudh', was touted as one of the biggest shows on the small screen, but it evoked a lukewarm response from the audiences.

The 46-year-old actress, on her part, is open to the idea of working for television, if something exciting comes across.

"It (show) has to be something outstanding and not just any story. I would like to do a show where I can make people laugh and cry, something that adds value to one's life," she added.

The 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' actress said she also does not mind judging reality shows.

"I don't mind... let's see what comes up. I had done one season of 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' and enjoyed it," she added.

On her latest sting with 'Sony Pal', she said the channel aims at adding value to viewers' lives besides entertaining them.

"The channel aims to entertain and uplift one's thoughts.

I am happy that I am the brand ambassador and I value it. I told them to have a show with me. But as of now there is no show. May be in the near future, the channel might do a show with me," she added.

While Juhi detests the typical 'saas-bahu' serials, shows like 'Mahadev', 'Jodha Akbar' and comedy serials impress her.

"I wonder how a petty issue is dragged for episodes. I don't see all serials but some of them are really good. I like 'Mahadev', 'Jodha Akbar' and I thought they are very well written and produced," she said.

The horrific story of human trafficking BigB

The horrific story of human trafficking .. the revelations by Fatma Khatu whom you see with Rani Mukherji .. where it existed in her own house, by her own husband .. and her fight against it .. !! Incredible lady !! See this episode it shall make your hair stand on end .. !!

Then the contestant in orange who insisted on walking the ramp with me .. and there we are stomping about in rhythm ..

But discipline still occupies my mind .. and when they are executed by those that have been with us for years and years, it is a sad moment when we take action against them .. but they must learn that nothing can be taken for granted .. they are because of someone and if that someone is given disrespect then they must suffer the same hurt that they inflict on others .. !!!

Tomorrow its back to ‘Shamitabh’ .. and the hours of make up and ..irritability … !!
