Amitabh Bachchan : Conversations invaded by ‘conversationalist’ mobiles

Conversations invaded by ‘conversationalist’ mobiles: Amitabh Bachchan

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan finds it challenging for elders to match the speed with which the youngsters express themselves, as well as wonders how mobile phones nowadays have replaced conversations.

“The speed with which this generation expresses itself, speaks itself and thinks itself, is in itself a speeded wonder. For one that has desire to keep in the same league as them, I find it extremely difficult to reconcile to its presence and more in its acceptance,” the 72-year-old posted on his blog srbachchan.tumblr.com.

“For the elders this has become a challenge. Even before they have begun to describe or explain their point of view or express themselves on a subject or common topic, the 18-25, well that is being a little generous — it really ought to be 12-18, has already grasped what they need to and has set off, leaving the elder in dismay,” he added.

Big B, who is also an active blogger and user of different social networks, is also amazed with the fact that how young groups nowdays are concentrating more on their smartphones than talking in person.

“Conversation and its validity in the times of the old, has now been invaded by the other conversationalist — the mobile. The young shall group at corner stores, at clubs and other gathered locations, but their prime activity is concentrated on their ‘smart phone’,” he said.

He shares that how when one walks into a room full of lesser aged people and there is complete silence.

“They look not at each other…there is no conversation, no nothing. It’s all head bent in concentration on that rectangular object of desire. They are listening, but more to what evolves from the instrument, than from the mouths of the others.

“Pavements, street crossings, park walks, store shopping, cinema viewing and a million other chores that this generation involves itself in, has one commonality — an ear blocked with the phone or blocked from the outside world with those white ear phones, for their listening pleasure,” said Big B.

Though the megastar has no complaints with these inventions and technology, he says that he loves his soul too and happy with the fact that it has no technological subsitute.

“I love fresh inventions! I love the way technology has taken over most of our informations. I love the idea of possessing in the palm of the hand all that is ever required to lead a life! I love my soul too! That has not had a technological substitute.

Shamitabh Movie: Amitabh Bachchan plays a frustrated man

Shamitabh: Amitabh Bachchan plays a frustrated man

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan said he is playing the character of a 'frustrated man' in his upcoming film Shamitabh. "As you watched the trailer, he (the character) is a frustrated man," said Bachchan who was accompanied by director R Balki and co-actors Dhanush and Akshara Hasan.

The Shamitabh team was on a promotional event of the film, scheduled to be released on February 6.

When asked about his experience of working under Balki, the Big B said 'an actor only follows instructions.' "No work is easier in life. People may think that one

feels good in front of camera. I have been working in the film industry for many years. Sometimes there remains a fear that what is cameraman thinking of, what is the demand of the script and whether I will fulfil or not," he said.

Bachchan said he had done many films with Balki and the latter is like his family member. "But when camera starts rolling, we forget mother, father, brother or friends, we only remain actor and feel the character. Whatever has been instructed, we do that," he said.

Asked about his son Abhishek Bachchan once again turning a producer, the senior Bachchan said, "People have their own thinking, Abhishek had earlier produced films (Paa) and he is also doing acting apart from producing films."

Some parts of Shamitabh were shot in Seven Hills hospital in Mumbai where Bachchan had undergone an abdominal surgery earlier. "Balki insisted to shoot in the same hospital to add element of reality," he added.

On the content of the film, Bachchan parried the question by quoting lines from the trailer, "It is not picture, it is mixture."

Balki said Shamitabh is a story of two egos who clash with one another. "It is the story of two egos of how two people clash and nobody can be successful indeed. Most people think they can do it alone, most people think they have done it all. It is not like that. Behind every successful person, there is a team," said Balki, who had earlier directed movies like Paa and Cheeni Kum with Bachchan.

Dhanush, whose YouTube song 'Kolaveri Di' had become a cult and who had earlier worked in Bollywood movie Raanjhanaa, said the story of Shamitabh is unique and very fresh. "I am deeply honoured to work with Amitji," he added.

The younger daughter of versatile actor Kamal Haasan and Sarika, Akshara, who is debuting with the film, said it was a magical experience to work with stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush, and Balki.

Bachchan also praised Akshara saying, "This is Akshara's first film. I have a special family relation with her. She is daughter of Sarika and Kamal Haasan and obviously, she got the talent in her genes.

Big B will apparently do the voiceovers for Dhanush in Shamitabh

Amitabh Bachchan to lend his voice to Dhanush

Big B will apparently do the voiceovers for Dhanush as he plays a deaf and dumb character in 'Shamitabh

Dhanush apparently plays a deaf and mute junior artiste in R Balki’s film, Shamitabh, which has the Ranjhanaa actor and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. It is now being said that Bachchan will lend his voice to Dhanush in the film.

If a source close to the film is to be believed, Dhanush and Amitabh recently shot for the film in Mumbai. “Dhanush plays a deaf and mute junior artist in the film and Amitabh Bachchan will do the voiceover for Dhanush’s character. Among the scenes that were recently shot was one where Dhanush, after a long struggle, gets his due. In this sequence, he has won an award and is shown walking the red carpet as well,” says the source.

The film, which went on the floors in February, has been shot in locations like Mumbai and Goa. It may be pointed out that Shamitabh will mark the Bollywood debut of Akshara Haasan, legendary actor Kamal Haasan’s daughter. The film is Dhanush’s second Hindi project, after the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Ranjhanaa. It remains to be seen whether the actor will be able to impress audiences once again with his role in Shamitabh. Buzz also has it that he will be doing a cameo in the sequel to the Hindi film, Tanu Weds Manu.
