I began to laugh बहुत ज्यादा मुसीबत पड़ी है तो हँसता हूँ

मुसीबत पड़ी

तो रोया था ;

ज्यादा मुसीबत पड़ी

तो चुप हो गया था ;

बहुत ज्यादा मुसीबत पड़ी है

तो हँसता हूँ ,

आखिर दुनिया में बसता हूँ .

When trouble , trials and tribulations came upon me,

I cried

When they increased,

I had become quiet ;

When they increased even more,

I began to laugh,

After all I am a resident of this world….

Just glanced through some pages of one of my Father’s work - a compilation of blank verse poems from his collection titled, ‘Kat ti Pratimaon ki Aawaz’ - the voice of images, being cut… and felt like starting the DAY off in this manner.

Sometimes it is important to be reflective. Sometimes it is important not to be too far away from the realities of life. Sometimes it is important to understand that being cynical is not a human deficiency. Sometimes it is important to accept that a utopian existence may never exist. Sometimes it is important to succumb to our frailties. Sometimes it is important to know that we are human.

We are weak and open to temptation. We are gullible and open to the point of deceit. We are afraid of our own disability and hide it behind masks. We are honest to ourselves when we are with ourselves. We lament misery on others and belie similar misery on us. We are we and they are they.. and the twain shall never meet.

Ali Akbar Khan was a treat for music lovers: Amitabh

New Delhi, June 22 (IANS) Superstar Amitabh Bachchan remembers legendary "sarod genius" Ali Akbar Khan, saying he was a treat for music lovers especially when he used to play with sitar maestro Ravi Shankar and tabla exponent Ustad Allah Rakha.

"We lost a great maestro in Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, the sarod genius. The 'jugal bandi' between him and Pandit Ravi Shankar was a treat for the lovers of Indian classical music," Amitabh posted on his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com.

"I have had the great privilege of watching them play in concert on several occasions and it was magic every time... The duo of Ravi Shankar on sitar and Ali Akbar Khan on sarod, with Allah Rakha on tabla has been the ultimate ensemble in Indian classical fare," he added.

Ali Akbar, who along with his former brother-in-law Ravi Shankar, took Indian classical music to the world stage, died at his residence in San Anselmo, California, following renal failure Friday. He was 87.
