Amitabh Bachchan looking forward to shooting Piku in Kolkata

Amitabh Bachchan looking forward to shooting Piku in Kolkata

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is excited to visit Kolkata for the second shooting schedule of director Shoojit Sircar's 'next- 'Piku'. The 72-year-old actor started his career as a executive in a company in the city and has shot many films in Kolkata throughout his career.

I see some cut and edited scenes from 'Piku' with Shoojit as we discuss the next schedule in Kolkata, Delhi and Gujarat, a longish outdoor. Kolkata shall bring back old memories of my seven year stint as an executive in a Company .. It shall bring back the films shot there "The love and the passion of Bengal is overwhelming. Whenever in doubt or discomfort of your disposition, visit Kolkata... The people shall pick you up as their own and fill you with their cheer and affection... Always," Bachchan posted on his blog.

'Piku' also stars Irrfan Khan, Deepika Padukone, Moushumi Chatterjee and Jishu Sengupta. It explores the father and daughter relationship between Bachchan and Padukone's characters. Besides Kolkata, the film will also be shot in Delhi and parts of Gujarat.

"Delhi has been home for many years.. Its detailing has often been repeated.. But no matter how extensively we may express our feelings for a city that has been your abode for long, it is never enough to completely describe it. "Gujarat is the new home. Those visits for the tourism campaign has given me the love of the lovable affable and most hospitable people of the region," Bachchan said.

Amitabh Bachchan: Insecurity from masses greatest challenge

Amitabh Bachchan: Insecurity from masses greatest challenge

Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan has seen highs and lows in his over 40-year-old career and the megastar, who enjoys a strong fan base all over the globe, says insecurity from the masses is greatest challenge for celebrities.

The 72-year-old eagerly waits to see his fans gather in front of his house here every Sunday - and the crowds have only grown over the years.

Big B took to his blog srbachchan.tumblr.com Monday to share the systematic routine that he follows each Sunday morning, and how he experiences an adrenaline rush with the "roar of the anticipated crowd".

But when he returns back, he ponders if "this would be the last visit from them...would they still be interested enough to come the next Sunday or not...and on."

"Insecurity from the masses is the greatest challenge one has to face ... those that can, and many do, are blessed...I am not...for me the call from the audience is the moment of reckoning...

"They can deflate you and pick one up, they can elevate you to unknown heights and bring you down with a thump...I have seen it all...the elevation and the deflation... the plateau effect and the effect of stagnation... of the smile among audiences, of de recognition, of shame and victory from it, and the triumph of those that decided to make what you become," he added.

He says "it is a stage that often invites the lessening of the interest...a cause that shall happen to us all in the business".

"Those that can bear it and live with it in peace and understanding are my heroes," added the megastar.

Amitabh Bachchan Makes An Exception For Abhishek

Amitabh Bachchan Makes An Exception For Abhishek

Kaun Banega Crorepati is a big show. Apart from the fact that it makes crorepati out of ordinary commoners, it also gives them the only opportunity ever to meet the superstar of the millennium, Amitabh Bachchan. The way he interacts with people is simply fascinating and heartwarming. He is also known to follow the rules of the game very closely. But it seems he had to relax one of those rules when his son came calling.

The Happy New Year team was on KBC recently to promote the film. Abhishek Bachchan was also part of the team along with Shah Rukh Khan and others. But since he is Bachchan’s son, the rule of not having family members on the hot seat was relaxed to accommodate him. In Bachchan’s defense, they were on the show for a noble cause.

The proceeds of the episode would go to a charitable organization and so Bachchan made an exception. Well, we don’t mind. The promos suggest it will be on hilarious Q n A session!

A monkey never forgets how to do the flips or somersaults : BigB

 A monkey never forgets how to do the flips or somersaults … बन्दर कभी गुलाटी मारना नहीं भूलता

Some habits remain .. they come into us at early ages and just .. remain .. the way we tie our shoe laces, the way we hold our pens and pencils, how we place our hands when we eat … our ways of greeting .. which side of the bed you prefer to get off … which side you wish to sleep, in what position .. how you bathe and soap yourself .. just so many unknown yet known moments …

In testing times, apart from the immediate test and its deliverance, the habits that we have lived with never change .. what we get indoctrinated with in those early years, are precious and lasting .. those impressions only get dissolved with time and other external incidents ..

Future life has the capacity to pollute one .. future life also has the capacity to retain one .. if the lessons and upbringings are firm and resolved, nothing in the living world has the capacity and the capability to change it .. those are the cherished elements .. they are the identity that others ascertain as they seek association .. may they forever remain with us .. in its likeness !

Metropolises and living cities that profess the capability to be the ultimate surroundings for those that seek .. also have habits .. habits that identify it and give it its colour , temperament and character. Mumbai pushes you out of bed each morning and commands you to go and achieve, as does New York ..

Delhi asks each other .. ‘aur kya chal raha hai’ … a hint at what is the scenario politically ..

Mumbai will utter with the calmest .. ‘aur kahan chalna hai’ … the speed of movement being depicted in almost everyday conversation ..

It may sound impersonal and distant at times, but when the need arises it gathers round and becomes that one strong bond .. at times when that call comes from the communicative device, what comes first in mind is .. ‘oh ! I wonder what he wants now ..’ … in the smaller towns and centres its always a call of well being and connection .. work and life in the bigger cities is almost always around the desire to engage in work that shall make one commercially viable, or seek its viability ; barring a few exceptions of course ..
But this above is reality .. its the form untouched and not polluted I believe .. it is affection rare in the bigger surroundings .. and for this I do not know how to manage, address or accept this fact ..

Each Sunday, I wait for that call from the front office to inform me of the gathering and its intensity and its causing of the problem for traffic, for me to come down to meet … and as I leave my surrounding, I look at myself in the mirror to check my attire, my bearing and my mind .. of what the expression shall convey, and for how long .. but once those gates open and I climb up on to the platform so all can see me, the roar of the anticipated crowd adrenalins your insides as it were , to perform, to express, to smile and to greet and show affection .. and as i return back hesitantly, I sit back and wonder whether this would be the last visit from them … would they still be interested enough to come the next Sunday or not … and on ..

Insecurity from the masses is the greatest challenge one has to face .. those that can, and many do, are blessed .. I am not .. for me the call from the audience is the moment of reckoning .. they can deflate you and pick one up, they can elevate you to unknown heights and bring you down with a thump .. I have seen it all .. the elevation and the deflation … the plateau effect and the effect of stagnation … of the smile among audiences, of de recognition, of shame and victory from it, and the triumph of those that decided to make what you become ..

It is a stage that often invites the lessening of the interest .. a cause that shall happen to us all in the business ..

Those that can bear it and live with it in peace and understanding are my heroes … !!

The remote sources of help Waseem Raja in KBC BigB

Jalsa, Mumbai               Oct 18/19,  2014               Sat/Sun  12:48 am

From the darkness of the night and the terror of uncertain life … from the devastation in the surround .. from the shrieks and cries of help … from the imbedded streets and buildings and vehicles under rapids of food water .. from lives lost, to lives of destruction … from the fear of survival, to the succour of brave hearts .. from humanity to humans .. from beyond the bindings of caste and creed and religious and social bias … from the meagre to the remote sources of help …

Rose many a brave … un concerned and un cared for in their own, but determined to bring those under threat of eventual perishment, to safety and secure locations .. providing them basics of food and water and a space to lay down .. one man, but many like him .. saved 5000 to 6000 lives … they are the true heroes of our great nation ..

They left their own to save others whom they had never met or known .. they worked for days without food or rest .. without any care for self .. just an instinct  within to serve those in need selflessly ..

We honoured one such on our KBC .. Waseem Raja … a young man with a young wife and two tiny children … travelled to the call of his friend some 5 kms away when he heard they were in trouble because of the devastating flood waters that were rising at rapid speed, inundating houses, buildings vehicles streets … everything that came nature’s way … searched for a boat somehow and clinging on to the overhead power wires pulled his little life support shikara to bring thousands of stranded families helpless and without hope from the roof tops of their homes …

Stories of bravery by the Sikh community and their Gurudwaras that opened up their gates for free ‘langars’ and the Masjid’s that became relief areas for those stranded to rest and be in safe regions .. of one particular Sardar, who removed his turban and binding it to those struggling against the waters, pulled them out of trouble .. of tearing his turban up to bandage a bleeding survivor .. the turban the most sacred apparel of the Sikh’s .. but put to use for the good of humanity ..

The Army the forces and their relief operations, bringing food and material from the air, patrolling the streets in rubber dingy’s to save lives, flying them to secure regions, opening relief camps with medical facilities ..

I do not know where they get the strength from in such conditions … the human is a rare species … it is never aware of its capacity .. its potential .. its power ..

When used and utilised for the right cause can truly ‘move mountains’ ..

We stand in silence for those that lost their loved ones .. and silently too salute those that saved the lost ..

Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan groove to snake dance!

After 'Kajra Re', Abhishek & Amitabh Bachchan groove to 'snake' dance!

It has been a while since we saw megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan groove to a peppy number! While the father-son duo did appear together last year for a special song in BOL BACHCHAN, they are best remembered for their item number ‘Kajra Re' with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in BUNTY AUR BABLI back in 2005.

Well, now the fans of Junior and Senior Bachchan are in for a treat, as both actors would be seen shaking a leg together in during the HAPPY NEW YEAR promotion on the sets of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati'. The episode will be aired on Tuesday.

Going with the image, it seems Abhishek is teaching Big B to do the famous snake dance that his character Nandu Bhide does in the Farah Khan film.

Now this definitely cannot be missed!

Farah Khan's HAPPY NEW YEAR, which also stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah and Jackie Shroff in the lead, is slated to release on October 24, 2014.

Amitabh Bachchan urges support for flood hit Kashmir

Amitabh Bachchan urges support for flood hit Kashmir

On behalf of the Indian film fraternity, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan Tuesday appealed to all citizens to contribute to the cause of rehabilitating the flood-ravaged Kashmir.

Big B is the front-runner of the campaign "Hum Hain...Umeed-e-Kashmir", an initiative of the entertainment industry, led by the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), the Film and Television Producers Guild and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEE).

"When we see (the kind of things that have happened in) Kashmir, Assam, Meghalaya or the Andhra Pradesh cyclone... when we see these things, I feel that as an Indian, whatever I am able to do for my nation, I must do," the 72-year-old said here at a press conference.

Calling himself a "small member" of the Indian film fraternity, the globally popular icon said that whenever the country has witnessed a disaster, "the nation's film industry has, without hesitation, tried to help people, and share their sorrows".

"During 45 years of my career, I have seen many such times when some disaster has hit the country, and the film industry has stood united for the cause and contributed towards it. I dedicate myself for this cause. I will do as much as I can do for Kashmir," he said.

He added that he feels "immense sorrow" to see the post disaster photographs of the scenic land, which was once Bollywood's favourite destination to shoot.

Film producer Mukesh Bhatt, president of Film and Television Producers Guild, too was present at the occasion, which was also graced by Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal.

Bhatt said it's like "payback time" for the film industry.

"We feel emotionally committed to that land, and we must come together to help in its hour of darkness," Bhatt said of Jammu and Kashmir, which was left devastated after floods hit the region in September.

Hence, as part of the "Hum Hain...Umeed-e-Kashmir" campaign, a slew of celebrities from the film and music world will come together to perform for a charity concert, to be held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here Saturday. They will also appeal their fans and the public to donate generously for the cause.

From Gulzar, Vishal Bhardwaj, Sharmila Tagore and Vidhu Vinod Chopra to Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Ranbir Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra -- various known names are lending their support to the effort.

Sonowal said that on his part, he has waived off the stadium rental for the event, which he will attend only after buying the tickets.

All money generated through sale of tickets, donations and sponsorships, will be given to select charities for relief work.

Bigg Boss 8': Is Amitabh Bachchan the Reason Why Rekha Gave Puneet Issar

Puneet Issar Rekha Amitabh Bachchan
Bigg Boss 8': Is Amitabh Bachchan the Reason Why Rekha Gave Puneet Issar a Royal Snub?

This "Weekend ka Vaar" with Salman Khan featured the timeless beauty Rekha as guest.

After enjoying her time on the sets with the superstar, she visited the "Bigg Boss 8" house to award Sushant Divgikar a beautiful saree for his marvelous dance performance.

While at the house, Rekha shared warm hugs with everyone, except Puneet Issar. The veteran actor wished him well from afar and left. And it is now understood that the reason for the royal snub Rekha gave Issar might have something to do with the injury Amitabh Bachchan suffered while shooting "Coolie" back in 1982.

"It is said that prior to the accident Amitabh and Rekha were an item and post the injury due to all the time Sr Bachchan spent at the hospital with family including Jaya Bachchan changed his equation with Rekha. After his recovery from the accident, Big B started maintaining his distance from the Super Nani actress," Bollywood Life reported.

Issar, who was struggling at the time, got an opportunity to prove his worth as a villain in the Manmohan Desai directorial. For an action scene, he had to punch Big B, and during the actual take, the punch landed on Bachchan's abdomen, injuring him severely.

"I (mock) punched him and threw him on the table as I was supposed to do. But Amitji took a leap, somersaulted and fell off the table. If you remember, that's where the shot has been stopped even in the actual film. Amitji said 'Mujhe lag gayi hai [I am hurt]'. At first, there was guilt. This was my first film after all. After the accident, Mr Bachchan told me 'Relax, these things happen while shooting. It was just a mock fight'," Rediff had quoted Issar in an old interview.

While Bachchan was reportedly quick in forgiving the debutant (Issar), it looks like Rekha - for whom the entire equation with the megastar fell apart after the accident - has not forgotten about it yet.

Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha reunite in R Balki's Shamitabh

Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha reunite in R Balki's Shamitabh

In the ’70s, they teamed up for several blockbusters. But the last time Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha worked together was in 1981 (in Yash Chopra’s Silsila). Now, after more than three decades, they’ll be seen in the same film again, although it’s not clear whether they will have any scenes together.

While Balki couldn’t be reached for a comment despite repeated attempts, on being contacted, Dhanush didn’t deny the news, saying, "It won’t be opportune on my part to comment on it. Balki sir would be the right person to talk about it."
