Big B celebrates birthday, eager to turn 70!

Big B celebrates birthday, eager to turn 70!

Bollywood’s veteran actor, Amitabh Bachchan, turns 69 today. But even at this age, there’s not even a bit of a change in his unmatched poise and lively attitude. Big B is one celeb, who is well connected with his fans through numerous online sites. In spite of being busy, he makes it a point to update his blog and tweet to reach out to his fans.

Today, as Big B celebrates his birthday, he shared an anecdote with his fans on his blog.

Amitabh Bachchan wrote, “I was born today ! 11th of October 1942 in Allahabad in a small private maternity outfit run by a missionary Dr Brar, in the most crowded market area of the city, Katra. I was brought home by my parents in the best possible transport machinery that they could afford - a tonga ! Wrapped in a 'gudari' I still refer to many that I am a 'gudari ka lal' - a human that is affiliated with the cheapest form of clothing. I loved being in that form and still love it (sic).”

“I have noticed on many occasions that the life and the style of those that live in such conditions, is closest to me in temperament. There is a certain sense of attachment every time I come in close contact with people and circumstances that narrate to me stories of the time. That is my most alluring possession. The complete ease that I feel and identify with when in the company of those that inhabit those lands," he writes. Big B regularly shares his personal and professional experiences with his followers, calling them his "extended family.”

“As I step into the 70's unabashedly, I need to thank several of those that I feel were the ones that seemed distressed with the number of my age. But no they are not so ! When they speak of age and involvement, why must we only look upon the aged, onto those that show the ravishes of time and the hunger of recognition. I would imagine that we must let the world be as it is and allow whatever shape it desires to take vis a vis individuals (sic).”

It seems that Amitabh Bachchan got really nostalgic, as he penned down the fond memories of his childhood. He was kind enough to share his personal and professional experiences through his blog.

We, the Dailybhaskar team wish Amitabh Bachchan, a very Happy Birthday and a great career ahead!
Here's a look at how Big B celebrated his birthday.

Joys of life are in the simple wishes: Big B

Mumbai: Mega star Amitabh Bachchan, who turned 69 today, says one of the best ways to celebrate birthdays is to keep working.

Despite completing 40 years in Bollywood, the ageing actor is not the one to rest on his laurels. He is busy shooting for Ram Gopal Varma's 'Department', despite getting injured on the sets of the film. He is also hosting the season 5 of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC)' on Sony TV.

"One of the best ways to bring in birthdays is to be working at what you need to be working on...I work because of I need to ....love!!," Bachchan said.

The actor returned home at midnight after shooting for the diwali episodes of KBC and said he could just make it home in time for the clock to strike 12 and for the family to wish him. "The greatest joys of life are in the simple wishes," he said.

Immediately afterwards, he settled to interact with fans from all over the world on his blog and micro-blogging site twitter.

"It is past midnight! It is my birthday today! It is another year gone by! It is stepping in to the 70th year for me! Thank you! Have just been released from the clutches of work form KBC... and here to thank you all for the love and affection you shower!!"

"They ask me what I wish for my birthday .. why only on the birthday, it should be everyday... I wish another day to pass in peace ! Thank you all once again for all the Birthday wishes ... I am so humbled and filled with pride .. you make it all happen .. my love," he said.

On his blog, Bachchan recalled that he was born in a small private maternity outfit run by a missionary Dr Brar, in the most-crowded market area of Allahabad.

"I was brought home by my parents in the best possible transport machinery that they could afford a tonga! Wrapped in a 'gudari', I still refer to many that I am a 'gudari ka lal' a human that is affiliated with the cheapest form of clothing. I loved being in that form and still love it. There is a certain sense of attachment every time I come in close contact with people and circumstances that narrate to me stories of the time," he wrote.

"As I step into the 70's unabashedly, I need to thank several of those that I feel were the ones that seemed distressed with the number of my age. But no they are not so! When they speak of age and involvement, why must we only look upon the aged, onto those that show the ravishes of time and the hunger of recognition. I would imagine that we must let the world be as it is and allow whatever shape it desires to take vis-a-vis individuals," he wrote.

Bachchan gained popularity in the early 1970s as the 'angry young man' of Hindi cinema, with films like 'Agneepath', 'Trishul', 'Deewar', 'Zanjeer'.

Year 2011 saw Bachchan rekindle his 'angry young man' image, that he is best known for, in 'Bbuddha Hoga Terra Baap'. But on the personal front, he is set to become a grandfather again, as son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai are expecting their first child.

His other film, 'Aarakshan' that hit the screens this year got mired into controversy due to its subject 'reservation'.

Bachchan even turned 'item boy' for a song titled 'Go Meera'. He was seen in a colourful and flamboyant avatar, dancing to his own golden hits like 'Khaiyeke Paan Banaras Wala', 'Pag ghunghroo baandh Meera naachi thi', 'Rang Barse', 'Sara Zamana' among others.

"All these years, I have been desperately waiting to be called an item boy. Please call me that. I feel with this song, my wish has come true...and I am satisfied," Bachchan had said.

A few months back, Bachchan broke the news of his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai expecting a baby.

"And so to becoming a Dada! The excitement and the joy of the first Bachchan coming after my brother and me. Nana I was, but now Dada!!," he had said on a social networking site.

The actor had said that he felt the grandchild would bring the child in him.

I was born today ! 11th of October 1942 in Allahabad in a small private maternity outfit run by a missionary Dr Brar, in the most crowded market area of the city, Katra. I was brought home by my parents in the best possible transport machinery that they could afford – a tonga ! Wrapped in a ‘gudari’ I still refer to many that I am a ‘gudari ka lal’ – a human that is affiliated with the cheapest form of clothing. I loved being in that form and still love it. I have noticed on many occasions that the life and the style of those that live in such conditions, is closest to me in temperament. There is a certain sense of attachment every time I come in close contact with people and circumstances that narrate to me stories of the time. That is my most alluring possession. The complete ease that I feel and identify with when in the company of those that inhabit those lands.

As I step into the 70′s unabashedly, I need to thank several of those that I feel were the ones that seemed distressed with the number of my age. But no they are not so ! When they speak of age and involvement, why must we only look upon the aged, onto those that show the ravishes of time and the hunger of recognition. I would imagine that we must let the world be as it is and allow whatever shape it desires to take vis a vis individuals.
I have only just returned from KBC and it has been a grueling day, apart of course from the fact that tonight there were several from the blog that adorned the front rows of the audience, and what a pleasure it was to be in their company. The zip and the zane went up several notches higher knowing that they were there and there in support.
I has spoken about my experience on the Tv about the serial I saw and the artists of which I admired. The serial was ‘Bade Achche Lagte Ho’ and the artists were Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar. Original, relaxed meaningful and competent. Last night they were down on the set of KBC and playing for a charity that was going to help the poor of cancer, and to be able to build a center for paraplegics. Such warmth and such a delight to be in their company. Natural, relaxed and without a glimmer of their star status, they seemed to have impressed all in their assessment of me.
I must to bed now. I have a busy day tomorrow … and the morrow and the morrow and the morrow !!
Love to all

Some loved the cats, some the rats yup .. they were upset with the treatment to the rats … ah well, it was just story telling

Some loved the cats, some the rats … yup .. they were upset with the treatment to the rats … ah well, it was just story telling, and story telling can at the best of times have the effect of believability or just another tale … and that was honestly an unintended pun !! But no offense to either party .. and if there are still some who feel offended … apologies !!

But a satisfying day today, primarily because of the release of the CD of Hanuman Chalisa. A most dignified affair, aesthetic, pious and efficient and punctual to the ‘p’ ! It pays when one takes personal interest in the execution of the event and I must say a large portion of the credit must go to the company that managed it – GS Entertainment of Bunty Walia and the ever efficient and most creative choreographer Shaimak Davar and his troupe of terrific dancers ! Its good to see other alternatives in the event management arena than the customary Wizcraft ! Its important on occasions such as this for the management to understand the temperament of the client and then put it into practice. Failure to do so results in a discomfort at most times difficult to repair.
And the finals unfold in front of me now of the CLT 20 and would you believe it, Mumbai Indians the team we support has just WON !! Won from a position of deep despair ! Incredible ! And with a team depleted of all their main players due to injury. Congratulations Bhajji ! You have led the entire team with finesse and immense maturity !
Its another long day tomorrow .. but before that some images to leave behind for you ..

endorsement from the ladies of the house on our efforts …

Good night and may Hanuman ji give you strength and the will power to bear all that may be of any kind of distress to you and your families ..

Soooo … some concern over the fact that the Blog was down today

Jalsa , Mumbai  Oct 8/9 ,  2011            Sat/Sun  12 : 13 AM

Soooo … some concern over the fact that the Blog was down today ! Yes true  .. because they are upgrading the facility and trying to make it a more user friendly device .. There was a bit of panic, but I do hope that all has now been resolved and that all the Ef are able to access it and find it to their satisfaction.

I see the cat lovers have almost immediately and with some suddenness begun to look at me with greater affection and regard. This is amusing and responsible both. Amusing because my love for the cats is a deliberate necessity than true affection. They take care of the rats and that is a huge positive for me. For months on end have I spent sleepless nights because the mice and mouse and the rat brigade had decided to party each night on my ceiling and at times within the sheets of my bed. Sincerely ! On a rather lazy evening they even landed up by the furniture and cushions in the hall ! I had spent many nights chasing them around with a broom until exhaustion overtook my violent adventure and slumbered me down. The masterly use of rat traps was a complete failure. They have discovered the means of escaping from them -and worse, with the cheese ! I tried all possible remedies for this and failed, until finally it struck me that ‘loha loha ko kat ta hai’ and decided to encourage the stray cats from taking their stroll in the garden and occasionally to be fed with great sympathy by the staff of the house. In between I even tried that ingenious paste that when placed on a piece of paper that houses the treasured cheese, encourages the mice to have a go at it and get stuck in the paste before they reach the bait !! A huge sense of victory was experienced by me, when I met up with ‘stuck’ rat in the paste – a scenario I had long wished would happen some day !
The stuck rat was alive, but with its paws firmly stuck to the paper and the paste, gave me an opportunity to have an outburst with it as it struggled to get its feet away and off the paper. I spent a good half hour conversing with monsieur Rat, telling him in a one way conversation sort of way, the anguish it had caused me for this rather large period of time chasing him about the house. I think he was least interested in my vocabulary, which I must confess was a bit tempered and x-rated and proceeded to show me his prowess in trying to escape even when he was in such dire circumstances. Of course he failed, but the attempt was honest and worthy of mention … he tried to bite its way out by attempting to eat and chew up the paper, little realizing that every portion of his body that touched ‘paper treated paste’ would have even grave consequences on the rest of his body !!
But … the story of the rat that crawled our from a large gutter or drainage system in an earlier home of mine when I stayed in a rented place, is even more alarming ! On returning from my work late one evening I discovered a rat the size of a cat, over grown and over fed, taking very measured steps up the staircase in the house like he owned it ! On making a few ‘shooo’ sounds to drive it away, it, moving in any case at .005 feet per hour, stopped for a moment and slowly but very determinedly turned its head around to give one of the most evil glares that I may have ever received. It was almost human in its demeanor and this prompted me to leave it alone rather than be obsessed by its presence in the most personal portions of the house !!
The other sized rats that came close in presence to this fellow were the ones on the sea front of Marine Drive among the quadrupeds, or whatever they are called, to prevent erosion ! Those experiences were at a time when there was no roof over my head and I had spent the nights on a bench the entire night, by the pavement !
Its been a while since then … quite a while …
My love and deep affection to all .. cats rats and all ..
