Amitabh Bachchan KBC 7 producer in trouble Defaming

Amitabh Bachchan, KBC producer in trouble for 'defaming' lawyers

A local magistrate's court in Ahmedabad issued notices to the producer of TV quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) and Amitabh Bachchan, host of its Season-7, among others after a complaint alleged that its promos present the legal profession in a "derogatory" manner.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S V Parekh asked all seven respondents, in an application filed by advocate Davinder Singh Rakkad, to file their response by August 21 when he would hear the case again.

"Promos of the popular quiz show being telecast widely on Sony Entertainment TV channel, shows lawyers and their profession in a derogatory manner," Rakkad said in his complaint.

Rakkad also demanded legal action against show producer Siddharth Basu, host Amitabh Bachchan and five others associated with the show, under Section 500 (defamation) and other provisions of the Information Technology Act.

In support of his contention that KBC promos showed lawyers and their profession in a "derogatory" manner, he has cited scenes from promos and submitted a compact disc with visuals as well as transcripts of all its dialogues.

The complainant has said that in a scene in the promo, an advocate screams "I object", while thumping his hand on the table in a court room, when another lawyer by his side prompts him saying "First, let the court proceedings begin".

Citing other scenes, Rakkad has alleged that such depiction of lawyers is not only "derogatory" in nature but would also "negatively inspire" people either not to join the profession or to leave their practice.

The time spent in a recording studio BigB

Jalsa, Mumbai          Aug  6/7,  2013             Tue/Wed  2 : 38 AM

It has been decided … in my mind … the time spent in a recording studio, with artists and technicians, music genius and composers, is the best time of your life … they that make it are unaware of what they are … they are the carriers of our hearts messages to the supreme … they are this thread that binds our souls to the souls of those we love and respect and pay our gratitude to, they that we go to in times of error and fault .. the Almighty .. or whoever you go to …

There is fulfilment and emotion … there is a desire unfinished, unrelenting in its persuasion to strike that one note, who's purity is recognised the moment it happens. Fortunate and enviable are they that live in that atmosphere each minute, each nano second of their lives, for they live in eternity, in the universal expanse of unmeasured width and depth. The universe, that they say increases in all directions, a billion miles each day or is it a year … no I think it is year or maybe day .. or could be an hour … who knows !! I am not sitting in the space with measure to measure its expansion …

It is a mystery … space, universe the entire galactic conundrum. At times we wonder of its hows and wheres, but soon get into frustrated debate on its creation … and when we can explain no more we resort to that age old belief .. belief !!

Belief is the strongest sentiment when it comes to personal choice of religion. The innocence of the child, the new born is such that we never even give her or him a remote chance to decide what he wants, … to be or not to be !!

Yet those moments of indoctrination, of the innocence of our years, remain bound to us for a lifetime … such is the power and the glory of it. And then once established, its undying steadfastness, its undefined patronage ; strong and immovable, remains … to face any intrusion or disbelief or effort to harm that ….

The spasm of our pain is likened to the spasm of our existence .. if you claim to exist, you must claim to bear and act ..

If popularity is the yardstick, then Amitabh Bachchan should be President: Shatrughan Sin

If popularity is the yardstick, then Amitabh Bachchan should be President: Shatrughan Sin
Press Trust of India | Updated Aug 02, 2013 at 10:23pm IST

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Shatrughan Sinha on Friday again said that senior leader LK Advani will be the best choice as party's prime ministerial candidate suggesting Narendra Modi's appointment as campaign committee chief has diverted attention from burning issues of Congress's scams and price rise.

In a veiled dig at party President Rajnath Singh's oft-repeated statement that Modi was the most popular leader in the country, the MP from Patnasaheb constituency, said if popularity was the yardstick, then Amitabh Bachchan should become the President of India.

"He (Advani) may not be a contender. But my personal view is that Advani is the best (for prime minister's candidate) suited from all aspects, including seniority," he said.

His contribution to the party is immense. He made it a party of two MPs to close to 200 MPs. His performance was very good. There is nobody better than him in the party. He is the best of all," Sinha said.

His remarks, apparently sniping at Modi for the third time in a fortnight and seen to be out of line with BJP's stance, could fetch him a show cause notice from the party. Last week, he met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and praised him saying he was prime minister material. Sinha felt that projecting Modi has the potential to divert attention from the raging issues of UPA government's scams and price rise.

He acknowledged that Modi was good and competent administrator and very popular. His track record in running the government was very good. "There are no two opinions about this. He is capable like Shivraj Singh Chauhan," he said referring to the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister.

"But popularity alone cannot be the criterion. If that is the criterion, then the most popular person in the country today is Amitabh Bachchan. It is our wish that he becomes the President," he said.

"How this popularity can be made good. It can be only through people's voice but through proper platform and channel," Sinha said.
