Mumbai: Actor Abhishek Bachchan says his father Amitabh Bachchan is a tad nervous about making his debut as a commentator for the India-Pakistan match during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Adelaide Feb 15.
The Big B will take on the commentator's role alongside stalwarts of the cricket-commentary world Harsh Bhogle and Kapil Dev as part of promotion of his recently released film "Shamitabh".
Abhishek, who is also the producer of "Shamitabh", was present at an event here when he was asked how excited he is about Big B's commentary during the World Cup.
He said: "I think it's a great concept and that's the least you can expect from Balki ('Shamitabh' director R. Balakrishnan). When we had this discussion in the marketing meetings, I thought it was a brilliant concept."

"To hear him commenting on the match should be a lot of fun and I've seen some the rehearsals they have been doing. He has been working hard and he is very nervous, but I think it'll be very exciting," said Abhishek, who's a sports enthusiast himself.
"Shamitabh", which released Feb 6, also stars southern star Dhanush and debutante Akshara Haasan in pivotal roles.

Amitabh Bachchan to commentate in India-Pakistan 2015 World Cup
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is busy cramming to get into the intricacies of cricket terminologies ahead of his debut commentary stint during the upcoming India-Pakistan match of the 2015 World Cup.
Bachchan, 72, who will be joining seasoned commentators Harsha Bhogle and Kapil Dev for the highly-awaited February 15 match, said he is taking tips from them.
“I am excited about the live commentary and I will be joined by Harsha Bhogle and Kapil Dev. I am taking tips from them and getting all the ‘mid-off and mid-on’ right,” he told reporters during the promotion of his upcoming film ‘Shamitabh’ in the capital.
The actor said the whole stint is a part of advertising the R Balki-directed film, which releases on February 6, a week ahead of the World Cup.
“This is all Balki’s decision as there is an integration between the sports broadcasters and the makers of ‘Shamitabh’.
As the film is releasing just a week ahead of the World Cup, we are just cashing in on the timing,” he said.
In the film too, Bachchan lends his voice to Dhanush, who plays a mute young actor with impressive acting skills but makes his mark in the world of films with the help of the old and washed out superstar.
“‘Shamitabh’ is a statement about our film industry and life. The film will see many directors and actors who are playing themselves in the film. The film revolves around voice,” he said.
Bachchan is teaming up with Balki for the third time after ‘Cheeni Kum’ and ‘Paa’, which made the actor win his third national award for playing a progeric child. He feels Balki is always refreshing to work with.
“It’s my third film with Balki and in all his films I played different characters. It’s always refreshing to work with him. In ‘Shamitabh’ too he tried to do something different. Abhishek saw ‘Shamitabh’ the other day and felt that it’s his best work till date,” he said.
The ‘Yudh’ star recalled the tough times of shooting the movie as it had a unique way of filming.
“I had to record the entire script in my voice before going to the sets. Balki and I used to sit in the studio and do the recording. Then Dhanush and I used to match the facial expressions listening to that recording. The whole process was very tedious,” Bachchan said.

Shamitabh Movie: Amitabh Bachchan plays a frustrated man
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan said he is playing the character of a 'frustrated man' in his upcoming film Shamitabh. "As you watched the trailer, he (the character) is a frustrated man," said Bachchan who was accompanied by director R Balki and co-actors Dhanush and Akshara Hasan.
The Shamitabh team was on a promotional event of the film, scheduled to be released on February 6.
When asked about his experience of working under Balki, the Big B said 'an actor only follows instructions.' "No work is easier in life. People may think that one
feels good in front of camera. I have been working in the film industry for many years. Sometimes there remains a fear that what is cameraman thinking of, what is the demand of the script and whether I will fulfil or not," he said.
Bachchan said he had done many films with Balki and the latter is like his family member. "But when camera starts rolling, we forget mother, father, brother or friends, we only remain actor and feel the character. Whatever has been instructed, we do that," he said.
Asked about his son Abhishek Bachchan once again turning a producer, the senior Bachchan said, "People have their own thinking, Abhishek had earlier produced films (Paa) and he is also doing acting apart from producing films."
Some parts of Shamitabh were shot in Seven Hills hospital in Mumbai where Bachchan had undergone an abdominal surgery earlier. "Balki insisted to shoot in the same hospital to add element of reality," he added.
On the content of the film, Bachchan parried the question by quoting lines from the trailer, "It is not picture, it is mixture."
Balki said Shamitabh is a story of two egos who clash with one another. "It is the story of two egos of how two people clash and nobody can be successful indeed. Most people think they can do it alone, most people think they have done it all. It is not like that. Behind every successful person, there is a team," said Balki, who had earlier directed movies like Paa and Cheeni Kum with Bachchan.
Dhanush, whose YouTube song 'Kolaveri Di' had become a cult and who had earlier worked in Bollywood movie Raanjhanaa, said the story of Shamitabh is unique and very fresh. "I am deeply honoured to work with Amitji," he added.
The younger daughter of versatile actor Kamal Haasan and Sarika, Akshara, who is debuting with the film, said it was a magical experience to work with stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush, and Balki.
Bachchan also praised Akshara saying, "This is Akshara's first film. I have a special family relation with her. She is daughter of Sarika and Kamal Haasan and obviously, she got the talent in her genes.

Amitabh Bachchan Makes An Exception For Abhishek
Amitabh Bachchan Makes An Exception For Abhishek
Kaun Banega Crorepati is a big show. Apart from the fact that it makes crorepati out of ordinary commoners, it also gives them the only opportunity ever to meet the superstar of the millennium, Amitabh Bachchan. The way he interacts with people is simply fascinating and heartwarming. He is also known to follow the rules of the game very closely. But it seems he had to relax one of those rules when his son came calling.

The Happy New Year team was on KBC recently to promote the film. Abhishek Bachchan was also part of the team along with Shah Rukh Khan and others. But since he is Bachchan’s son, the rule of not having family members on the hot seat was relaxed to accommodate him. In Bachchan’s defense, they were on the show for a noble cause.
The proceeds of the episode would go to a charitable organization and so Bachchan made an exception. Well, we don’t mind. The promos suggest it will be on hilarious Q n A session!

Big B lauds first 7 crore winners of ‘KBC’
Mumbai, Sept 21: Calling their win ‘exemplary’, Amitabh Bachchan praised brothers, Achin and Sarthak Narula, who became the first ever contestants to win the highest prize of Rs 7 crore in ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, hosted by the Bollywood megastar.
The duo, who hail from Delhi, emerged victorious after answering all the 14 questions correctly with the help of four lifelines.
“There was a mission in the manner in which they approached the game. Right from the very start, they went about it in a manner that was simply exemplary. They used up all their lifelines, but they had the answer even before they asked for help,” the 71-year-old actor posted on his blog.
Bachchan, who has been hosting the gaming reality show for 14 years, said it was sheer joy to see the two brothers come out victorious.
“What a joy to see a 28-year-old and his younger brother of 23, playing to gather some money to be able to put it into the cause of providing the fees required for the treatment of their mother who suffers from ovarian cancer.
“Achin and Sarthak Narula, you deserve not just the highest reward of the show but indeed all the wishes for propagating this important message that if an ailment is brought to the notice of the medics in correct time, the possibility of a cure and its success is possible,” Bachchan added.
