Big B doing great job on 'Bigg Boss', says Shilpa

New Delhi, Oct 5 (IANS) Bollywood actress and former "Bigg Boss" host Shilpa Shetty is thoroughly enjoying watching megastar Amitabh Bachchan host the third season of the popular reality show.

"I have to mention I enjoyed watching Amit-ji on TV again. I had missed him, and as usual he's doing a great job. His panache is unmatched," Shilpa posted on her blog www.shilpashettylive.com/blog/.

"Looking forward to every episode with bated breath -- obviously I have a bias, to see this mix of people will be interesting (and entertaining) to watch," added Shilpa, who hosted the second season of the show in 2008.

Now Shilpa's sister Shamita has participated in the show and be locked inside the "Bigg Boss" house for 84 days with 12 strangers.

Shilpa says she misses her times on the show, especially saying her signature closing line -- "Chakkar pe chakkar, Pange pe panga, Dekhte rahiye 'Bigg Boss', kyunki yeh hai sabse changa!".

"Will miss being part of this season but am sure that one Shetty in the house will more than make up for me...hoping Shamita braves the storm," she said.

The actress, who had won "Big Brother", the international version of the show in 2007, says it gave her a lot in life.

"It has given me so much - friendship, love (that's how I met Raj, long story another time), confidence, success and much more," added Shilpa.

Amitabh Bachchan presence gives Bigg Boss highest rating double than Shilpa Shetty

Amitabh Bachchan presence gives Bigg Boss highest rating, double than Shilpa Shetty!!
06 Oct 2009

Amitabh Bachchan, the Shehanshah of bollywood who hosts the season three of ‘Bigg Boss’ on Colors channel as Pop Philosopher, has already put the show on top of the table with 11 million viewer tuning in on the first day itself.

The iconic presence of Amitabh Bachchan has also ensured the highest TVR of 3 for the show, which is far more than it was for season 2 hosted by sizzling hot sexy siren of bollywood Shilpa Shetty. In fact, Shilpa could attract only the TVR of 1.5, which is only half of what the Bachchan hosted show achieved on its first day.

Not only this, even the much- hyped Akshay Kumar’s ‘Fear Factor’ could not manage such a huge viewer ship on its inaugural day, despite of being one of the hottest bollywood stars of the present generation. Even the presence of hot beauties like Claudia Ciesla, Shamita Shetty, Sherlyn Chopra etc would have helped season 3.

The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that it was mere presence of Amitabh Bachchan on the show that changed the dimension and reach of the show. His comforting presence on the inaugural show was enough, not only for the contestants, but also the viewers to get hooked to the channel. Big B’s reference to his great poet father Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan further enlightened the atmosphere on the show.

Every participants—from gorgeous Poonam Dhillon to Shamita Shetty, Sherlyn Chopra, Jaya Sawant(Rakhi Sawant’s mother)and Raju Shrivastav—was overwhelmed by the presence of living legend of bollywood and related her or his experience of interaction with Big B before the audience.

Insiders say that Big B is once again going to repeat history by making Colors the top channel, leaving competitors like Star Plus, Zee, NDTV Imagine and Sony far behind in the rat race, with his presence on the television with ‘Bigg Boss 3’.

It may be recalled that Amitabh Bachchan’s presence on Star Plus with ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ in year 2000 had not only made that channel top of the lot, but also changed the scale and economy of television in India forever. This second appearance on Colors is also going to do the same in coming months.

The grapevine has it that earlier Salman Khan’s show ‘Dus Ka Dum’ had given Sony channel some hope of getting close to Colors channel, and giving a tough fight in the near future. But coming of Big B with ‘Bigg Boss 3’ has dashed all hopes of Sony and Star Plus for a revival, and they will have to remain content with their subordinate position to Colors channel for the time being.

Amitabh Bachchan beats Shah Rukh Khan again!

According to aMap, Amitabh Bachchan's small screen comeback as the pop philosopher on Color's 'Bigg Boss 3' has generated a record television rating point (TRP) of 6.0 for the launch episode aired on October 4.

'Bigg Boss 3' beat the first-episode ratings of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?' (TRP of 4) aired last year and 'Kaun Banega Crorepati-3' (TRP of 5.8) in 2007.

'Bigg Boss 3' also overshadowed the opening TRP of reality shows like 'Raakhi Ka Swayamvar' on NDTV Imagine (TRP of 3.7), 'Aap Ki Kachehri' anchored by ex-policewoman Kiran Bedi for the second season (TRP of 3.4) and Akshay Kumar-anchored reality show 'Khatron Ke Khiladi-2', also on Colors, was at 3.

aMap says the ratings of 'Bigg Boss 3' are double those of 'Bigg Boss 2' last year when actor Shilpa Shetty was the anchor, or Bigg Boss 1, which aired on Sony Entertainment Television three years ago.

'Bigg Boss 3' was watched by nearly 11 million viewers, almost double 'Bigg Boss 2', the viewership data shows.

Advertisers have expressed strong faith in the show that has attracted top spenders such as Vodafone, Sunsilk, Garnier, Max New York Life insurance, and GM Chevrolet among others.

It is an interesting show that has always received higher ratings. Bigg Boss 3 will be able to sustain high viewership to meet our marketing objectives," says a senior executive of a leading brand that has bought on-air sponsorship time on Colors.

Industry sources reveal that Amitabh Bachchan has been paid Rs. 126 crore to host 'Bigg Boss 3'.

Bigg Boss Season 3 Housemates

Claudia Ciesla: She is the firang on the show. She has been linked to Salman Khan in the past.

Aditi Gowitrikar: Another Page 3 personality. She has done some really stupid ads.

Poonam Dhillon: The Page 3 personality in the house.

Shamita Shetty: Hah. She is the sister of Shilpa Shetty who won the UK edition of Bigg Boss (Big Brother).

Sherlyn Chopra: She is of course the replacement for Rakhi Sawant. The glam factor. She arrived on the show wearing a skimpy outfit. Was seen asking another housemate to open her choli in the first episode.

Bakhtiyaar Irani and Tanaaz Irani: I have no idea why they got this duo on the show. They together get the power of two votes!

Vindu Dara Singh: He appeared with Akshay Kumar in the movie Kambakkht Ishq. Son of Dara Singh.

Bigg Boss 3 will begin airing from sunday 4th October 2009 on Colors TV Channel daily at 9pm.The contestants, participants, inmates have been finalised.

According to our source, "Sherlyn Chopra, Aditi Govitrikar, Tanaz Curim, Shamita Shetty, Jaya Sawant(Rakhi Sawant's mother), Poonam Dhillon and Claudia Clesia will be the girl inmates this season".

"Kamal Khan (Deshdrohi fame), Bakhtiyaar, Vindoo Dara Singh, Raju Srivastav, Ismail Darbar, Rohit Verma (fashion designer) will be the men seen in the Bigg Boss house".

Ismail Darbar: He is known for his excellent music in the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Looks like a pretty serious guy. I don't see him interact much with the other members of the house.

Rohit Verma: I have no freaking idea who he is. He is probably gay. He is supposed to be a well known fashion designer. He is going to make a lot of other people on the show uncomfortable.

Raju Srivastav: Ah well. He is loud and he is unbearable. He is going to provide the entertainment in the house. I hope they kick him out soon.

Jaya Sawant: Rakhi Sawant's mother. Dhen Tedaaan! Nobody has much clue about her. Even google doesnt have much to offer. Beti Rakhi Sawant bought the much needed TRP for rival channel NDTV Imagine through her swayamvar and now mummyji is here to compete.

Kamal R Khan: He is the dude from the incredibly stupid movie Desh Drohi. This movie featured Gracy Singh (the actress from Lagaan). He is exactly what he is… a person living in denial.

Here are the names of the members who are part of the season 3 of Bigg Boss:

In the solitude of Jalsa The ladies are away The children

October 1, 2009 - 8:23 pm

Jalsa, Mumbai October 1, 2009 Thu 8:21 PM

In the solitude of Jalsa. The ladies are away. The children, grand that is, have gone to encourage a family colleague, who plays a rock band at Ecole Mondial, a flourishing school in the vicinity. Jaya has left early to be with the Harmony Show, conducted by Mrs Tina Ambani, where the elders of society are honored and the me has just returned from Juhu Wala Marriott after describing the benefits of devouring honey made by Dabur to be the important factor in ones health. More media, more speeches, more cameras, more people … but the solitude within and now in the home.

BigAdda has now confirmed that the link up with Face Book and the blog has indeed taken place. This is a first apparently. A blog coming on to FaceBook. And so its champagne time ! Well metaphorically !! We can go there and they can here. Not able to comprehend ? Ok over to BigAdda …

That document above should give you a process of getting on or off FaceBook. Cool eh ?

Many in the meet and greet event today harped on good health and how I maintained those elements. I found the glorification of the issue of my health a little exaggerated, but since the quality of the product was under public view, I endorsed indirectly the importance of the ingredient. Health really is a state of mind to me. If the mind is healthy, the body will show it. If not then not. When we harbor hatred and malice, guile and mistrust, ugliness and abuse, our faces shall express them in vivid detail. When we inhabit happiness and wellness, laughter and joy, good counsel and openness our skin shall glow and the body stride out with confidence and bounce. Yes the regular bits count - controlled diet, controlled exercise, but the mind will always be supreme, in all aspects.

Shifting base but not sentiment, shifting physically not mentally … shifting but never drifting.

I seek strength and courage, prayers and blessings. Tomorrow I start the first day recordings for Bigg Boss Season 3 and the butterflies and the shivering knees occupy most of my thoughts. Every new venture brings with it the apprehensions and the uncertainty of creativity. What is it about this profession that makes us thus. If the moment of judgement were to be postponed or withdrawn it would be the greatest jubilation for all of us. But uncertain as we are just before I cannot say what switch turns us on into the ever efficient performer once the lights and the action is demanded. It is a study in nature and in human behavior. The abnormality of the moment is a case study by itself.

I shall never know and neither will those that suffer with me, but it is a unique phenomena and I wonder if there would ever be sufficient interest in it for it to be researched and analyzed. There are many in the fraternity that take courage and strength from external objects of stimulus consumption. There have been several known and unknown cases that come to mind. Celebrity in them makes for derogatory reference and comment, but seldom has there been compassion expressed in understanding the circumstances of the accused. It may well be the necessary compulsive potion that would temporarily drive within them a sense of security, hitherto not experienced. Making myself secure is human. Secure from the travails of status, from the pressure of output, from protection of failure and a million other thoughts that run through the mind of an average John. But never have I heard words of compassion on their condition, or the troubles that put them there. The celebrity is never to be equated with good or good deed, because celebrity has never to be associated with contribution to society. They are outcasts, evil monolithic rogues, that destroy culture, ethos and tradition. They are the bane of existence and they must be knocked on the heads and kept in place. So judge those, that judge conscience of a nation. And once done, these judges of society deliver and disappear. They are never accountable, they never will get the thrill of entrepreneurship, nor will they ever be held responsible. Once the column is filed and closed, so also is their conscience. This episode is over and done with, lets look for tomorrow’s game, is the refrain. Its a good life !!

For those in love and in prayer ..

Amitabh Bachchan
